Texas Two-Way Standout Watson Named to af2 All-Ironman Team
Texas Copperheads DB/WR Armar Watson has been named to the af2's All-Ironman Team, the League office announced today. This is the first time in the af2's nine-year history that the league has given special recognition to its top two-way players. In total, the league recognized 15 players for their two-way excellence. MORE
Gatto, Todd Earn All-af2 Honors
The af2 recognized two Texas Copperheads with all-af2 honors on Wednesday afternoon. Overall, players from 25 of the league’s 29 teams were selected to either the American or National Conference all-af2 first and second teams as voted on by af2 head coaches and media.

Twisters Level Copperheads 78-26
Saturday night at Alltel Arena in North Little Rock the Arkansas Twisters defeated the Texas Copperheads 78-26 before a crowd of 6212. The 78 point outburst was Arkansas’ highest scoring performance of the 2008 season. With the win Arkansas finishes the 2008 regular season with an 11-5 record and will host Central Valley in the first round of the af2 playoffs. Texas closes out the season at 2-14 with the defeat.

Sharks Escape Copperheads Comeback 51-49
Corpus Christi, TX – Sunday afternoon at the American Bank Center the Corpus Christi Sharks escaped with a 51-49 victory over the Texas Copperheads when a last second Nick Gatto 43 yard field goal attempt hit the left upright and fell into the safe arms of Sharks return man Ivory McCann. With the win the Sharks improved their record to 7-8 and remain in the hunt for a playoff birth. The Copperheads fell to 2-13. MORE

Wranglers Block Copperheads Comeback
Kamau Jackson’s 1 yard TD run at the 1:35 mark of the 4th quarter proved to be the game winning score as the Austin Wranglers defeated the Texas Copperheads by a final score of 41-38 on Saturday night at the Frank Erwin Center. Moments later, Texas kicker Nick Gatto kicked a potential game tying field goal off the left end zone net as the ball appeared to be tipped at the line of scrimmage. The victory gave Austin a share of the National Southwest division lead with a 7-6 record. The Copperheads fell to 2-11.

Copperheads Win First Ever Road Game
Hidalgo, TX – With 11 seconds to play Texas DB James Todd intercepted a Travis Cole pass in his own end zone to secure a 47-35 National Southwest Division win for the Copperheads. Todd intercepted 3 Travis Cole passes on the evening and was recognized as the ADT Defensive Player of the Game. Organization Prepares for 2nd Half Stretch
HOUSTON, May 30, 2008 – The Texas Copperheads celebrated the successful first half of the season marking the team’s second year in the Houston area.
Through the first half of the season, attendance for home games at the Richard E. Berry Center have averaged over 2,400 fans per game, which is an increase over last year's game-by-game attendance. The Copperhead's have also invited over 3,800 school children and staff from the Cy-Fair
Independent School District.

Renegades Sneak Past Copperheads

The Texas Copperheads have placed league leading receiver Sean Rochon on IR. Rochon will miss a minimum of 4 weeks with an undisclosed injury. “This is a blessing because we thought it would be a season ending injury” said Copperheads Head Coach Ollie Guidry.

Battle Wings Pick Off Copperheads
Bossier-Shreveport opened and closed the game with interception returns for touchdowns as the Battle Wings defeated the Texas Copperheads 67-41 Saturday night at the Richard E. Berry Center in northwest Houston.
After tossing two incompletions to begin the game, Bossier-Shreveport’s Chris Ibezim picked off Texas QB Rudy Carlton’s third attempt and returned it 16 yards for a touchdown. The Battle Wings were ahead to stay at the 13:23 mark of the first quarter. The opening score set the tone as turnovers would continue to plague the Copperheads. Carlton threw four interceptions and Shaun Rochon lost a fumble as the Copperheads offense would turn the ball over 5 times in the game.

Copperheads Host Battle Wings
The Texas Copperheads (0-2) will host the Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings (1-1) at the Richard E. Berry Center in Northwest Houston on Saturday April 12, 2008. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30pm CST.
In week 2 of the young af2 season, the Copperheads dropped their second consecutive home game at the Berry Center as Florida handed Texas a 56-14 defeat. In week one, the Copperheads fell to Rio Grande Valley 66-40.
Copperheads Head Coach Ollie Guidry believes his young team has hurt themselves more than Rio Grande Valley or Florida. “We have to correct the problems”, said Guidry. “None of the teams we faced ultimately caused our execution problems; it was of our own doing. I don’t want to take anything away from Rio Grande Valley or Florida, but ultimately it was us. We have to protect the ball. We have to do better on third downs. Our conversion rate is not very good. We can’t give up big plays.”
